By the time you've reached Two Dots Level 69, I'm sure you've already developed a healthy dislike of Fire. If you've visited WOTS before, you probably know that we loathe randomness in our puzzling games. It's not much of a puzzle if it is impossible to solve, after all. To combat randomness, we favor a tactic we refer to as re-rolling. Generally speaking, this is any action that allows you to reset the initial layout of a random level, to give you a better chance at a good start. Quite a lot of Candy Crushers found our article on rerolling Candy Crush levels very useful, and since then we study each new game we play for similar tricks.

You may recall in my list of top games like Candy Crush Saga that one of the contenders was Dots by Betaworks One, a simple, beautiful game about connecting the dots (a brief shout out to all the old folks like me who can't avoid hearing Pee Wee Herman's voice when thinking that phrase). While I love minimalist puzzlers like Dots and Blek, I have to admit that I tend to expect them to be a one time stroke of genius by a small developer.
While playing the game and putting together our 2-part Factorio preview I had a few thoughts and crazy questions I wanted to ask the developers. I shot them a quick email and incorporated a few bits from that into the preview. However, their responses were interesting and my preview didn't really do them justice, so I thought I'd collect them and do a "Factorio Interview" article. Hope you enjoy!
You get to choose the kind of pathogen, the country where patient zero gets infected, and what abilities are bestowed upon your beloved sickness. You can, and should, experiment with different abilities and strategies- but in general I find one over-arching philosophy tends to be most effective.
Recently, I've been trying out some mobile games that cost money. You heard me right, and I know the blasphemy is still reverberating in your head, but the truth is I'm a little tired of the free to play aftertaste. I've had my eye on Plague Inc for a long time, but I always had something else "free" to occupy my time. I finally decided that for cheaper than the price of a soda ($0.99), it was worth it to try it out. I've since learned that you can often even get this one for free, due to frequent sales.
