Rolling Guide | Two Dots

If you've visited WOTS before, you probably know that we loathe randomness in our puzzling games. It's not much of a puzzle if it is impossible to solve, after all. To combat randomness, we favor a tactic we refer to as re-rolling. Generally speaking, this is any action that allows you to reset the initial layout of a random level, to give you a better chance at a good start. Quite a lot of Candy Crushers found our article on rerolling Candy Crush levels very useful, and since then we study each new game we play for similar tricks.

How to Reroll

Very fortunately, Two Dots is another such game that allows you to reroll the level. When you follow the steps below, you'll be able to restart the level without losing a life. This will give you the chance to look at the starting Dots and see if you have a few good moves to start. If not, just reroll. For some levels, especially those with few moves, you'll find this trick to be extremely valuable. So let's get rerolling:

Step 1: Enter the Level

This step is strangely important. In order for this trick to work, you must enter the level from the world map. For whatever reason, this trick will NOT work if you fail a level and simply opt to retry. For this reason, I strongly recommend against "retrying" hard levels, so that you always have the opportunity to reroll.

Step 2: Look at Dots

Take a good long look at the layout of the level. Best case scenario you already have a Square or Bomb shape ready to be connected. If not, look carefully for possibilities to cascade a few moves together to create a Square or Bomb. Don't count on random drops if you can help it. It's much better to know from the start that you've got at least one Square or Bomb match waiting. This will greatly increase your odds of winning. If you like the board you've got, stop here - otherwise move on to Step 3.

Pro Tip Many levels in Two Dots are semi deterministic, so be advised that no matter how many times you reroll, some Dots won't change. This can actually be a bit of a clue about the strategy to beat the level, so keep an eye out for it.

Step 3: Open the Menu

If you decide to reroll, simply tap the menu icon in the top right to open up the game options.

Step 4: Exit to Map

When you tap "Exit to Map", you'll fade back to the world map. You can then immediately re-enter the level with a new random board! If you don't like that board, go back to Step 1 and repeat.

Warning You should not see the warning "You will lose a life". If you see that message, tap somewhere else on the screen. If you don't want to lose that life, you will have to play it out. If you fail Exit to Map with the "double left arrow" button. Do not tap the "circle arrow" which triggers a retry. When you "Exit to Map" from a retry, you lose a life.
