What is Flappy Bird?

Flappy Bird is the new “hot game” making the rounds for Android, iPad, and iPhones. But what’s the deal with it? If you’re late to the party, don’t fret! We’ll give you all the details quicker than you can crash into a green pipe.

What is Flappy Bird?

Flappy Bird is a mobile phone and tablet game that is about a little bird who is trying to avoid crashing into the ground or one of the many pipes that apparently litter its world.

Where do I get Flappy Bird?

Flappy Bird is available on iTunes for iPhones, iPods, and iPads. If you have an Android device, you can get it on Google Play.

It’s free, and there aren’t any “microtransactions” or anything that costs money once you start playing. It’s free as free comes.

Update: The game’s creator has pulled the game from the iTunes and Google Play stores :( Apparently making $50k/day from this cra- I mean, flappy game was too much for him.

How do I play Flappy Bird?

Flappy Bird: Tap to Flap

That’s an easy one. Tap the screen to make the bird flap a bit higher, and over time it will come down to the ground on it’s own. That’s literally all there is to it, just tap to flap.

The tricky part is that you’ve got to flap juuuust right to stay aloft and fit in the gaps between pipes. Tapping tends to send Flappy Bird upward pretty quickly, so you probably don’t want to tap too close to the pipes. Sometimes the game gives you a whole line of pipes where the gaps are at the same height, which makes it much easier.

How do I win Flappy Bird?

There’s no winning, honestly. Flappy Bird just goes on forever. Yes, forever. No, you can’t win. I guess technically you “win” Flappy Bird by uninstalling it.

Flappy Bird: Gold Medal

Oh, there are “medals” for clearing certain numbers of pipes. I got the gold one for getting to 11, so Flappy Bird medals aren’t particularly hard to come by.

Is Flappy Bird Safe for Kids?

From what I’ve seen of it, it seems very tame. There doesn’t appear to be any violence, language, or any inappropriate content. I can’t rule out some hidden offensive screen, but I consider it to be pretty low risk.

Why is Flappy Bird scared of landing and allergic to Mario-esque warp pipes?

We may never know. I assume some unresolved childhood trauma, but Flappy Bird isn’t returning my calls.

I LOVE Flappy Bird, but I’m Bored With It. What Games Are Like Flappy Bird?

The closest game I can think of is Jetpack Joyride, which is a far superior game, and it’s free! Go check it out and have a much better and less frustrating time. You can get it from iTunes, or for Android users, go to Google Play

Technically Flappy Bird is a type of Endless Runner, so any endless running game would probably fit the bill as well.
